ABOUT / HOW WE DO IT
The International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) and its forbears have been part of the Paralympic Movement since it was founded by Sir Ludwig Guttmann in the 1950s.
Over the years IWAS has had many names but the central vision of the organisation has stayed the same.
To inspire the global growth of sporting opportunities for athletes with a physical disability.
To provide a world class sporting pathway from grassroots development through to elite performance for athletes with a physical disability around the world.
The Strategic Plan for 2019-2022 outlines how IWAS will meet this vision, detailing its focus and priorities over the next four years.
- Delivering world class Games and events
- Strengthening IWAS by growing the IWAS membership
- Growing the IWAS sports
- Promoting IWAS and sustaining partnerships
The plan was developed by the IWAS Executive Board following consultation with the General Assembly.
